Spaten
This beer is a transparent gold in colour, is of moderate strength, has a mild flavour and perfectly combines the bitterness of hops and the sweetness of beer wort. The mildly spicy flavour adds to the special charm of this beer. In English “Spade” translates as shovel, and this is the symbol of the Spaten brewery – a malt shovel. In general in the 19th Century the Spaten brewery was an example to other companies, as namely Spaten was the first in Munich to brew a Pilsner type of beer and a beer with bottom fermentation. Despite this Spaten does not relate to the category of Pils but to Helles, which being a typical Bavarian light beer, is recognizably milder and sweeter than its traditional Czech counterparts. Since 1884 and until the present day the beer has used toe emblem of the artist Otto Hupp, who printed the famous shovel. Spaten, is a symbol of the main annual beer festival “Oktoberfest” that is held in Munich. Produces in Germany (Bavaria, Munich) since 1397 in the Spaten-Franziskaner-Brau Brewery GmbH.
